- GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Internship Scholarship
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Internship Scholarship - Please note this scholarship is for participants in a GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Internship Program ONLY
GlobaLinks Learning Abroad is international education leader in the facilitation of high quality international internships. In addition, we also offer a wide range of other international education programming such as semester/year abroad, short courses, and degree programs. GlobaLinks Learning Abroad understands the importance for students to build and explore careers early and often, not only domestically but in a global context as well. Investing in these types of experiences will help set students on the right professional path by the time they graduate.
“With over 2.5 million graduates entering the job market each year, we want students building their personal brand and skill level as much as possible so they can stand out amongst their competition. Gaining global competencies abroad through an internship is a great way for students to differentiate themselves and build the skills they need to succeed, “said Barbara West, GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Manager of Internship Programs. “We also understand that an unpaid international internship is hard to fund for many students and we want to make this program open to those who might not normally be able to afford an important opportunity like this. We hope that these scholarships will make an international internship possible for a wider range of students.”
In addition to the "general eligibility" requirements listed above, applicants must meet all of the following eligibility requirements for this award. Important note about eligibility for this scholarship only: The GlobaLinks Learning Abroad Internship Scholarship does NOT require participants receive academic credit at their home university or college for the internship program. DEADLINE AND AWARD TIMELINES
Please note the following:
- There is a 60 day window in which to apply for a scholarship. Be sure you are applying in the correct award period for your program start date (the date classes begin in country).
- Because of the time necessary for the scholarship committee to score scholarship applications, your program may begin before you know if you have been selected to receive an award or not.
- Applicants are notified about 30 days from the application deadline (depending on application volumes) whether they will receive a scholarship or not.
- Scholarship recipients will not receive their scholarship check before they begin their study abroad program. This is because confirmation of your participation in classes, in country, for one full week must be received by the Foundation before your check will be mailed to your permanent address provided on your application. (Electronic funds transfer is not available for a scholarship to be deposited into your bank account.) Additionally, full payment of your program fees is required before your scholarship check will be mailed.
- All decisions regarding scholarship awards are those of the Foundation and are final.
